Family Visitor visa - Date of travel or the date of issue

Post by nm » Thu Aug 21, 2014 1:42 pm

Hi

I am planning to apply for family visitor visa for my mother, she's planned to travel in 3rd week of October. I will be making my visa application in the first week of September. Will the visa granted from the date of travel or the date of issue ? If they would give from the date of issue then she will loose two months in india before she arrives here. If this is the case, i may need to delay two weeks of time to apply for the visa.

It would be really helpful if someone could help me clarifying this ?

visa starts normally from the issue date; applicants can request to issue post dated visa but there is no gurantee the request will be considered.

you can mention in the covering letter or 'additional information' section of the application.
ps: it was not considered when my family members applied for their visas earlier in the year; however you might be lucky.

And mention it on application form notes.

I got it started on the day I requested.
