Maintenance of funds - Tier 2 - adding note to CoS

Hi,

I am in process to apply for Tier 2 visa, out of country. On my approved CoS, my employer didn't tick the box to confirm that they will maintain myself. I am since having problems obtaining bank statements from UK bank as I am outside UK, so my employer called the hotline number (not sure which one) and asked if they could add a note to the CoS saying they would maintain me, the person from the Govt said yes that would be ok. As per the Tier 2 guidance I don't think this is acceptable if the box wasn't ticker, and without written confirmation from the person my employer spoke to on the phone, I am not sure if I should just rely on this and should instead try to get my bank statements? Has anyone else had Tier 2 visa successfully approved with a note added to the CoS about maintenance, AFTER the CoS was approved? I am yet to apply for the visa.

the sponsor note to certify maintenance can be added and will be acceptable provided it is done before you submit your application for entry clearance

Also u should be fine using bank statements from outside uk as well.
