Identity Card while on ILR appeal

Dear Gurus,
Is it possible to get an UK ID card while the ILR application is refused, and an appeal lodged? It takes a while and meantime ID is needed for jobs, travel etc. even within the UK.
I think we need passport to get an ID, but the passport is with home office.

UK ID card has been abolished. It does not exist so you cant get one.
