NTL Application of ILE from 6 years ago

My dad received an ILE 6 years ago, however we thought it expired and therefore applied and received other visa since then. We now realised that the expiry date on the ILE was simply the expiry date on the passport and all we had to do was transfer the ILE to a new passport. Is the ILE from 6 years ago in his old passport still valid and can we still apply for transfer of the ILE even though there have been other visas issued afterwards?
