UK Tier 2 General Engilish Requirement

Post by sureshmenon459 » Mon Sep 29, 2014 4:36 am

Hi ,

Recently I have been sponsored for Tier General Visa.

To meet the English requirement I am supposed to either pass IELTS with the B1 grade
or
Submit my Original Degree Certificate which should prove that I have studied English.

The Problem is I have lost my Original Degree Certificate and it would take some time for the university to re-issue a new one.

To Apply for Visa , is it sufficient if I meet the English requirement by Passing the IELTS with the needed Grade or would I have to wait for Degree Certificate. Unfortunately the university would take a couple of months.

I have already been issued a CoS on my name, please advice.

if you cannot get hold of your original degree certificate and want to apply for T2G entry clearance, and don't qualify under any other heading, you have to take and pass the English test at B1 level.

see Appendix O of the immigration rules:
https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... MASTER.pdf

and also the addendum to the T2 policy guidance (at the front):
https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... _08-14.pdf

You have to apply for the visa within 3 months of the CoS issue date.

Thank you manci

That was very helpful, I have already passed IELTS General with 7.0 band overall and 6.0 minimum in each.

I guess I can go ahead and file my application.
