wife name change after having ILR card

Hiya.

My wife's naturlisaiton is due next year in august.

yesterday We went to Bradford to renew her old passport which was issued before marriage .The staff said coz she is married now so she need to change her name on Passport. They said name should be changed on ID card first then on Passport. So she applied for new Id card (NICOP) with new name (my name). The staff also keep her original old ID card which was issued from Pakistan. We have only copy of that ID card now. She applied her spouse visa and even ILR on old Passport.
