Married but not registered

Post by antonyos » Mon Nov 10, 2014 2:56 pm

Hi

I am married religiously and I live with my wife in UK but my marriage is not registered here. Could you please let me know how I should answer question 1.15?

Current Marital: Married, Civil partnership, Divorced, or Single/never Married?

As it's not registered in UK, Would I put it down as single?

Thank you,
Dave

Thank you. I understand then that I can put it down as Married as long as I show evidence such as my wife passport with my name on it, or where it states that she's married to me?

Passport does not show this. I do have the marriage certificate from my home country though. Would this be accepted as a proof?

If in doubt, would it be wrong to put it down as single (I am not applying as spouse)?

Thanks

If your marriage is legal, don't put 'single' as this would be false information. Submit your marriage certificate and state 'married' in the application.
