I was given unrestricted cos in sept 2012, then my job was in shortage occupation. I went Liverpool peo to switch from tier 4 to tier 2. They said i have to go outside country to apply for the visa as i am switching from student visa (course less than 6 months, adapatation). Now the job is not in shortage occupation list anymore. I am planning to do the extension sooner.
1. Do i need to ask for an unrestricted cos
2. In the beginning did i apply with restricted cos ( outside country)
3. Will i get ilr

If you are applying from within the country - you need an unrestricted COS
Outside the country - you would have applied with a restricted COS
ILR - you are eligible as long as you satisfy the rules for indefinite leave in 2017, 5 years post your first Tier 2 stamp.
