BOTA - British Citizenship referee - Unmarried Partner

Post by EEApartner » Mon Dec 22, 2014 5:07 pm

Hi,
Can I have my unmarried partner (literally my boy friend) to act as my referee in the British Citizenship form?
As he is not my 'relative' since we are not married, would it be any issues?

Thanks

I don't think that would be allowed as he is very closely related to you.
I am sometimes wrong.

If you are in a Civil Partnership, I suspect not. Otherwise, I don't think 'boyfriend' disqualifies him from being a referee.

The UK issues visas to unmarried partners of UK and EEA citizens precisely because they are considered part of the family.

I would recommend getting a different referee. If you can't, make sure his contact details do not give any indication that he lives with you or is in a relationship with you.
