Sponsering elderly parents

Post by angelacanada » Tue Jan 27, 2015 10:16 pm

Hello My Dad is 83 in fairly good health but as my 2 brother live in the US ( one is a citizen and one with a green card ) and I am in BC Canada we would like to help him move over here.
Does anyone know A) is it possible to sponsor a parent aged 83? and B) If so approx. how long the process to sponsor an family member into the USA takes ?

Thanks Angela :)

It os easy to sponsor parents if you are USA citizen, and there are no age requirements. There are some issues with health insurance once parents arrive - how problematic it is depends on state they live in, and it seems it became less of a problem with Obamacare. It takes about a year now if applying from abroad (a parent can also come as a tourist, and then apply for AOS)
