Surndering Indian passport bypost 89th day pls respond quick

Post by IndiMarshall » Mon Feb 02, 2015 7:51 am

Guys can any of you let me know if I surrender the Indian passport after 90 days will I be fined ? I mean if I surrender just below 100 days (due to postal service) .. can I avoid the penalty ? I received my British passport only couple of days ago.

http://www.immihelp.com/nri/indian-citi ... ation.html

I have received my naturalization certificated on 4th Nov and today is 89th Day .... this morningI thought of posting the application (due to distance & time and time off from work) but as I realized it is 89th Day today and if I post today will the application be considered as surrendered before 90th day ?

Or shall I go in person and submit tomorrow (3rd Feb) on the 90th day to avoid the penalties. Please let me know your opinion.. I am back from holiday which is the reason for such long delay and sorry if I have asked any basic questions..

Following is the VFS postal process I found... http://in.vfsglobal.co.uk/surrender_pos ... ation.html Hope this is correct.

Also can any of you give me VFS contact number if any.. as it is better to speak to customer care in case of any recent changes..

passport can be surrendered upto 3 years from naturalisation w/o incurring any penalty.

the 90 days restriction is only on travel using indian passport.

ohh ban.s how are u mate ? You are on my mind to reply first ..thanks :D
cool.. I have no travel plans in near future using my Indian passport..

So I will post the application in this case.... Can you see the checklist and tell me if I have to take anything else.. as I saw a post this morning that VFS has asked him to carry photocopy of blank pages of the passport as well. Can you tell me if I have to send anything else apart from the list.. so that my application wont be delayed any further..

Also I hope postal service is safe and hope they dont loose my stuff .. as all my colleauges or whomever I know have not done postal thingy..

yes, the checklist is fine.
pls submit all pages of Indian passport including blank pages. usually photo copies are retained for reference and if you didn't submit copies of blank page it may also mean the missing page had some travel stamp and perhaps erroneously (or purposefully) excluded.

Photo copies should be self attested as well.

I hope it isnt something like a STAMP of our name like we see in Govt Offices in India ??

Self attestation means signing on each sheet. No stamps required. I have been advised to write the date next to the signature as well, but that is not technically a part of the self-attestation.

I have found the following checklist as I intend to post my application -
http://in.vfsglobal.co.uk/pdf/Postal_Ch ... 230514.pdf
Got this doc from
http://in.vfsglobal.co.uk/postalapplication.html

The first point is like below.. My passport expiry is less than 6 months. It is giong to expire on 04/08/2015

Your original passport with a minimum validity of 6 Month (180 Days)

So what should be done now now ? What options do I have >?

The following link doesnt explain anyof this process

http://in.vfsglobal.co.uk/surrender_checklist.html

Can anyone pls quickly give me some solution to this ..
I thought you already submitted the passport surrender. Anyway you are mixing up visa application requirements with passport surrender.

Thanks Ban.s

In Surrender application
Under the British/passport details, under the 'place of issue',
What location Should I mention ? I didnt find anything like 'place of issue' in British passport...
Is it the place where Ceremony has been held or
Is it where my Passport interview took place ? or
something else ?
