Recent surge in interview calls for Tier 1 ext and ILR appli

There has been a sudden surge in in interview calls under Genuine earning test rules to Tier 1 extension and ILR applicants. Could seniors on this board identify the reasons for this sudden rise in interview calls to Tier 1 extension and ILR applicants. Rules have been in place since 2013 but apart from last few months in 2013, home office was not calling applicants for interviews until recently. I wonder what home office is up to? What they ask in these interviews? and how applicants should prepare themselves these interviews?

Please provide any source where you read this news.
There have 100s of ILR application getting applied and approved and interestingly I haven't seen anyone receive any call.

Is it specific to a certain visa category .. or is it for postal application.

Please share the resource.

Source is my discussion with several immigration solicitors and barristers, they told me about the sharp increase in interview calls to people who applied for extension or ILR under Tier 1(General) category. Also check the post on this blog. Several applicants have been called for interview since Jan 2015. That has not been the case during 2014.

Is it happening only for postal application or PEO aswell ?

I have known people who went to PEO and were told that home office can not make a decision on same day and later on received a letter for interview.

any more insights into this? Seems scary. We pay so much in fees, and additional fees for PEO appointment. Hope that they keep the process straight forward.
