Calculating absences - urgent

Post by sky_rise » Tue Feb 24, 2015 3:26 pm

Hi there,

Thank you all for sharing useful info on this forum.

I tried to find an answer to the question, but most of them seem 2011/13 years.

How do I calculate the absence for the past 5 years?

Do I count the date of departure out of UK and the arrival back to the UK as the full 2 absent days?

For instance, if i went on Friday and returned same week Sunday, is that total of 3 days of absence?

Many thanks for your help .

You need to consider absence means, complete day you are not in uk. If you left on 1st March from uk to india. Means 2nd onwards your absence will counted.

Why is this urgent?

Information on how to calculate absences is on the form and booklet instructions. You only count the days that you were not in the UK for the entire day. You fly to Amsterdam on Friday, you come back on Sunday, 1 day of absence (Saturday)

Dear haiksuresh,
Many thanks for your kind reply.

I am running a business and travel for that reason quite a lot.

Sorry, did I get you right that I do not calculate the day that I was leaving the country on, and not calculating the date of arrival back to the UK? Only the days in between? That means, from each trip two full days are not absence? (date of arrival and return?)

Thank you!

MSaxp, thanks for your reply.

I am sorry I could not find it, i tried. Can you please point me to it?

This is urgent because if we need to include as absent days of departure and arrival to UK, then I was absent more than allowed and need to move the date of application...So I would appreciate reply.

I also calle UKVI and they said that I need to calculate the date of departure and absent, but not the date of arrival. So, totally confused...

Yes.
If you left UK on 20.12 and returned on 22.12 you would count only 1 day as being absent.
I am sometimes wrong.

Many thanks. is it valid for calculating absences for both ILR and naturalisation?

I don't know about ILR but this calculation is in regards with naturalisation.
