Spouse interview for settlement visa!

Post by Joynhope15 » Tue Mar 03, 2015 9:24 am

Hi there

I wonder if anybody can give me any info! I have made a settlement visa application for my husband who is in Jamaica and we are coming up to our first year of marriage. I have just received a call from the Sheffield visa section inviting my for an interview! Is this normal, should I be worried, does this mean they will interview my husband? I will be flying out to JA on Friday so opted for the interview on Thursday.
Can anyone tell me what to expect they have instructed me not to bring any further info!

Nothing to necessarily worry about.
I haven't heard of anyone be called for an interview recently but in the past people have had interviews over the phone. Just straight forward questions about the relationship/application.

I had one of these interviews, my spouse is also Jamaican. It was quite short, they asked about when we met, how we met, etc. They also asked (I think inappropriately) about whether my wife was working while she was in Jamaica, although they didn't push me for any details of this. You should be able to do the interview over video link from VFS global office in London (and maybe a few other locations) if you're not near Sheffield.

Hi
Just to let you know that my interview went very well, very straight forward and yes also by video link. That took place on 5th March, on the 11th March my birthday, my husband received an email to say he could collect his passport, no indication if it contain edit the visa, we collected it yesterday and the visa was enclosed! A total of 32 days turnaround time!!

1st part done will start the next process in 2 years time.

Special thanks to one of the senior member on this forum, great help support and advice :D :D :D

Well this has only been happening recently since Sheffield started processing settlement visas from Jamaica, but I am surprised at how many people are being interviewed so maybe this is going back to 5-6 years ago where Jamaican applicants and their sponsors were often interviewed due to the negative immigration history between Jamaica/UK in the past.

Congratulations franklucas! Mine will probably take longer because even though my passport is in the Jamaica office I'm from the Dominican Republic and mailed there by VFS.

Hi all

I have also just had a call today to attend an interview, in London for my husbands spouse visa application, he is in Nigeria though, and it seems there are more and more interviews rather then phone calls.

I will let you know the outcome my interview is 27th January and hubby done his biometrics 10 weeks ago today

I hope i wont get nervous :)

I missed a call today which stated they wanted me to attend an interview. They didn't leave a number, has anyone got any experience of how long it takes for them to call back? Also where you have to go for thr interview?

Hi Donna

They should try again to call you, the voicemail should have advised of this. Keep your phone on loud :)

I had my interview as I posted above on 27th January I can happily say my husband was granted his spouse visa, and has been here since 13th Feb. This was the only ever visa we applied for he had never been out of Nigeria before.

My interview was in London however I believe they have them in different areas, the interview is on Skype video link and you use a headset and I managed to record my interview on my mobile, i was able to make a list from my answers, here is what questions I was asked....

1. What type of visa has your spouse applied for.
2. Please confirm your spouses full name

14. Was this on your 2nd visit
15. How long was it.
16. How long did you stay in Nigeria the first time
17.and the second time
18. Did your family attend the wedding
19. Do you have any children
20. Does your spouse have any children
21. Does your spouse have any siblings
22. What is their names.
23.are they married
24. What does Adenike do
25. Are your spouses parent's alive.
26. Did they attend the wedding
27. What's your spouses fathers name.
28. Have you been married before
29. What date did that marriage take place
30. What date did you get divorced.
31. Where was your ex spouse from
32. Where did your last marriage take place
33. How did you meet him
34. Was he sponsored
35. Is he still in the UK
36. What job does your spouse do
37. What is your job title
38. Have you ever been part of any other application.
39. Correction to the guy that I'd been to Nigeria 2
40. Where did you stay in Nigeria
41. Which side is your spouses grandfather from
42. Has your husband done an English test
43. What one
44. Do you financially support your spouse

Good luck, tbh they didn't call my husband to verify my answers I think it's because they have nothing else to refuse on :)
