Please help **Dependant extension**

Post by Shah1234 » Thu Mar 26, 2015 1:29 pm

Dear All,

I have a PEO appointment booked for my (main applicant) T1 General visa extension on 30th March (Monday).

I was planning to apply for my wife's and son's T1 dependant visa as postal after that.

However, I just realised that there will be additional cost added to the applicaton for my dependant's due to Medical Surcharge from 5th April. And I would like to avoid that due to financial reasons.

Please help:
1. I was thinking of going ahead with my application at PEO on 30th March and was hoping to get the BRP card by 3rd march so that I can apply my dependants visa extension through post before 5th April and avoid medical surcharge and visa fee hike.
But there is a possibility that I dont get by BRP card before 5th (due to delay in Home office sending the BRP card or due to bank holidays).

In this case is it possible to make my dependant's visa extension application based on my visa approval letter (and i.e. not providing the BRP as proof) which I will receive on 30th?

Or
2. Should i cancel my PEO appointment for 30th and simply apply my and my dependant's visa through post ( I would like to avoid this as I am planning to change my job and would want my visa decision taken ASAP)

Please advise.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Rish

Hi,

I applied at Croydon PEO on Monday 23rd for my Tier-1(G) extension. My extension was granted the same day, and I got the BRP in post on Wed, 25th afternoon.

Which PEO would you be going.

This could be too late, hope this this helps.

All the best.

Thanks.

Hi Guys, also, if I submit application online, How long before one needs to send all the documents? Can I travel after submitting application and sending documents to UKBA?

Well, I got my T1 Extension approved at Croydon yesterday. Awaiting BRP.

My concern is that I want to apply for my wife and kid's T1 Dependant extension on or before 3rd April.

Please can senior members tell me if the T1 approval letter which I received yesterday would be enough as an evidence of my immigration status for my dependant's application? This means I apply for their visa without waiting for the BRP card.

However, my guess is that I am taking a risk because I dont know exactly what is my visa validity date.

Best case scenario will be to hope that I receive BRP before 3rd.

Please help.

I believe you can fill application online and pay the fees now (if you have your approval reference number on the letter), and send the printed app + required docs in a few days after receiving the BRP.

I applied for my wife and daugher's Tier 1 G extension earlier this month using online form. If I remember It does ask for Tier 1 G Main holder's BRP Number

Do you have one of these Home Office reference numbers for Mr XYZ?
Yes, I have their biometric residence permit (BRP) number
BRP number
RXxxxxxxx

Health surcharge is for temp migrants which will include Tier 1 general.

ok.. here is the update from my side.

I got the BRP card this morning (very quick I must say).. So... all my concerns/worries have been put to rest.

I am going to make my dependants application tomorrow morning by post. This way I will be dodging: 1). Medical Surcharge 2). Visa fee hike (that means I will save myself from spending around £1400 more if I would have applied after 5th April).

Senior members can correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks for all your help. This board has been very informative and helpful.

Regards,
Rish

I'm not senior ' but congrats and you can go ahead with your dependants.
I don't think Medical surcharge is applicable to ILR; its only for temp visas.
