Tier 1 Dependent Visa Extension - Outside UK

Post by jillter » Mon Apr 13, 2015 2:04 pm

In short, I am planning to renew my dependent's Tier 1 visa in India (i.e. Outside UK), when they are there for a month long holiday this August. Any suggestions / comments please?

More details:
We are in the UK since 2011, on Tier 1 General visa. [1 primary applicant + 3 dependants]
Our Tier 1 visa was due to expire on Jan 2016.

Due to renewal closure date of 06 Apr 2015, I had renewed just for myself (primary applicant. New expiry date: Mar 2018)

I am planning to renew their visas (Tier 1 Dependent) this August, when they are in India, for a month long holiday.

I am thinking of saving 800£ per person, as the cost of applying is £944 per person (outside UK), as compared to £1,736 when applied in the UK.

First of all, can I do this? Has anyone done this (or) planning to (Tier 1 Dependent Visa Extension - Outside UK)?
Any suggestions / comments please?

I am already cursing myself now, for not renewing their visas, a couple of weeks back (loss of 600£ per person on healthcare surcharge). "healthcare surcharge.... daylight robbery...."

Many thanks

As long as you are not bothered abt dependent continuity ,
You can apply outside as the fees are low.
I will be doing that for my kid this August,he was born in UK but
We need to go for a holiday to our home country.

If their previous visa was still valid, I don't think there would be risk as their visa status would be continuous.

Thanks,

I second Vinny, it would be a risk for dependents. See also,

Correct, since your child was born in the UK, the child will be entitled to register as British once you obtain your ILR. Your wifes ILR continuity will be retained as she will not be applying from India.

Hi O_Relly, vinny,

My dependent's visa expires, next Jan. They will be in India for 30 days this August.
These 30 days will count towards their 180 days ILR restriction...., irrespective of me applying for their current Tier-1-dependent extn, from within UK or from India.

From the documents / links that you referred to, I do not see any risk apart from the 30 odd days being added to their 180 days limit?
Please let me know if I am missing something.

Thanks in advance.
