Which Marital status is suitable

If a person has divorced her partner and now can he/she be called as single instead divorced while writing/saying to authorities like other people, friends, relatives, DWP, ukba, dvla etc.

From an official standard point her marital status should be Divorced, and therefore that would be the correct status to use when completing forms issued by government authorities such as UKBA, DVLA, DWP.

Other than the official reasons where data protection prevent the personal information not be leaked out, can a divorced person be called as single.
