Query about New born baby in UK - Tier 1 General

Hello,

I am presently on Tier 1 General visa and got my ILR due in August this year. I am blessed with a baby boy in the month of November, 2014. I have the following questions :

1) Do we need to inform UKBA of the child birth ? I have registered his birth already with the Registrar office.

2) Once I get my ILR, how long does the process take for him to get his British Passport ?

Looking forward for some guidance as we plan to take him home for his first birthday but not sure how long the initial application for his British passport takes. Please advice

It took almost 4 month for me from start to finish . But it depends every case is different
