Naturalisation with PR.

Post by anp » Fri May 01, 2015 2:57 pm

Good afternoon all,

Quick question.... in order to satisfy Residence Requirements for naturalisation, will I need to provide anything else other than my PR? I have acquired it in Sept. 2012.

I will be applying through NCS next week.

Please advise.
Be good.

Q5 and Q6 in this link might help. Sorry I am not an familiar with EEA rules so I'd also await further replies.

As far as I am aware, you'll also need to prove your residency, e.g. with bank statements, letters from employers household bills etc.
All information given is just my opinion as a member of this forum and does not constitute immigration advice.

Just your PR card no bills and no other paperwork.

Although, you have to prove that you were not out of the country for more than 90 days in the final year of qualifying period you need to send some papers in. I'd sent in my payslips for example.

I don't see the point, to be honest, since my status has already been confirmed with the PR. I can include payslips and P45 though.

Yes but there's no way of knowing if you were out of the country for more than 90 days in the last 12 months. Payslips covering last 12 months will do.

Yes, he is right. You need evidence that you have been in the country for the 12 months prior to your application. My wife did same and the requested for such evidence which she did not submit when she made the initial application and they requested for it a few weeks later, leading to them making their decision late. What they requested for were bank statement, utility bills, GP letter etc As your EU passport is usually not stamped on exit or entry out/into the country, they are not able to use this as evidence of residence during this periods, mid that makes sense.

I am not an EU citizen. My passport gets stamped all the time. And perhaps, the difference between the 2 cases is that I already have a PR. PR automatically proves your right of residence and the unlimited extent that it was given for. Why does one need to prove it again?

Is there an official link I can look it up? It doesn't make sense.

Please see this link from my local Hammersmith Council.... http://www.lbhf.gov.uk/Images/Document% ... 176426.pdf

It doesn't mention anything of the kind...

I find it hard to believe. I will anyway have it on me, but it's the first time I hear.

Please elaborate.

Cheers.

5. ABSENCES FROM THE UK
To satisfy the residence requirement you should not have been absent for more than 90 days in the last 12 months.
https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... r_2015.pdf Page 7.
You should also bear in mind that, if you are not married to or the civil partner of a British citizen, you will need to have been free of immigration restrictions for a further 12 months after acquiring permanent residence.

Ok, I did not realise your weren't an EU national. In that case, your passport and PR card should do. there is no need to sumbit anything else.

i will anyway present my P45 (covering 2013-2015) as well as payslips to the NCS officer, although I am convinced that my PR should suffice.

I wonder, what have others done in a similar situation?

As you would imagine, I would hate any pointless delays.
