Citizenship for spouse of a British citizen, on an EEA2

Post by kingklan252 » Thu May 14, 2015 12:40 pm

Hi All
My wife is an EEA national in the UK for 11 years and also for the past 2 months a British citizen as well. I am on an EEA2 family permit and have been living in UK from the past 5 years as a family member of EEA national. Will I be able to apply for citizenship or will I have to go through the Permanent Resident PR route?
So if I can apply citizenship as a spouse of a British citizen under the 3 year rule. Would the 3 years then start from the date she becomes a British citizen or is it more related to our relationship? And
When the 5 years period started in my case? June 2010 (when I married to an EEA national) or September 2010 (when my EEA2 visa was granted)?

Thank you in advance.

Regards
Zyan

hi zyan
I had same story as u , your five years start from date u got married ( june 2010) , so in june 2015 u must apply for PR first ( u can't apply for bc without PR) . after u receive your PR u can aply for BC strait away you don't need to wait 12 months because your wife is british and when u fill the NA application fill it on basic of spouse of british { 3 years residence } , use ncs for peace of mind ,good luck
