HSMP Qualification Points Query

Post by athar.abbas » Tue Sep 04, 2007 10:49 am

Hello guys,
I just joined that forum and sending a query. Hope somebody will answer it perfectlly.

I am Software Engineer in Karachi, Pakistan. I want to apply for HSMP programme of UK but I have certain doubts about my Qualification points in this regard. I hope you will help me for that. I am mentioning here my qualification details.

After Intermediate (12 years education in Pakistan), I did 2 years B.Sc (Computer Sc, Mathematics, Statistics) and then 2 years MCS degree (Masters of Computer Science) from Karachi University. Now my total qualification is of 16 years.

Now, I want to know that Am I equivalent to "Bachelors Degree (eg BA, BSc)" OR "Masters Degree (eg MA, MSc or MBA)" according to UK education.

If I am not then should I do MS (CS) to get equivalent to UK Masters ?

Best Regards,
Athar Abbas

Hello athar,

you are askin really basic questions. Please go through the HSMP guidance notes completely. later on you post the questions which can be answered. But please do bit of research yourself before posting any questions.

Thnx

Your 16 yrs of education in Pakistan is equivalent to UK Bachelors. Also, I would request you to cross check with NARIC. Many of them have called NARIC UK over phone to confirm comparability, you may try that too.

Is calling NARIC over phone to get the information is a free service ? or you have to pay for it ?

I conclude from threads i have read here that many of the members have called NARIC over phone and confirmed the comparability of their degree. You may look for those threads and check with them how did they go about calling NARIC.

Yes, It is absolutely free. but they will not provide you a comparability letter. You can call Naric to compare your qualifications.

Their No. 0044 870 990 4088

You can then be sure that you stand an informed chance.

My question is regarding English language letter.
I have 2 years bsc, followed by 2 years mcs. i have an English language letter from mcs college,
do i need to get a similar letter from bsc taught college?

I am bit confused, as somebody suggested me to get it from college where i have done bsc as my master will be considered equivalent to bachelor in UK and so i need to get it for bsc as well.

awarding institute for my bsc is punjab university and i am quite sure it is not possible to a similar kind of letter from there.

I studied in Govt college gujranwala, i can get one from there, but instructions say, get this letter from degree awarding authority.

what you say, i am ready to file my case but suspected at this point.
score:
education (mcs) but calim bsc=30
Ager 28-29= 10
previous earning= 45
total = 85

kindly suggest, but i am reluctant to go for IELTS.

You also can call Naric on this No. 0044 870 990 4088 and ask them about your query. If they say its equivalent to UK bachelors then you dont have to go for the NARIC LETTER. Best of luck.
