family life as a parent

Hi guys i am on tier 1 entrepreneur visa valid till jan 2017.
I have a child with a british citizen to whome i was never married. Can i switch to family life as a parent?
If i can what documents will i need?
The child's mother has given me a sworn affidavit confirming my access rights and me giving financial maintenance to the child. The affidavit also confirms me visiting child regularly and going to hospital for his appointments.
