child benefit does affect child ilr

Post by Allesheikh » Sun May 24, 2015 5:28 pm

Hi everyone,

I've got a question regarding child benefit. I have ILR and my son was born in UK before I got ILR. I have applied for my son registration using form MN1 still waiting for approval. Currently my son has no visa as he was born in dec 2013 and I got my ILR in March 2015. Also I have applied for my wife flr m switching from tier 1 dependant.

My question if I apply for child benefit will this affect my wife future applications (extension for flr m and ILR)

Any help would be really appreciated.

Thanks
Ali

No it will not affect future FLR(M) application as long as child benefit is claimed in your name only as the ILR holder.

Child tax credits MUST be claimed in joint names with your spouse though and this will not affect future applications for FLR(M) or ILR.
