Wife's dependent visa - must she travel to UK by 6 months ?

Post by sunnyf21 » Tue Jul 28, 2015 8:35 am

Hi - We are currently in India and I am filing UK tier 2 visa. I will be filing my wife's dependent visa along with me. I plan to travel right away but my wife will travel after few months

However, someone told me that once the Visa is stamped, my wife MUST travel to UK within 6 months. Is that correct ? I got another contradictory comment that the 6 month restriction is only for my (primary holder) travel and NOT for the spouse. What is correct ?

As per the latest rules, you both will be given 1-month visa on the passport. You need to travel to UK within this one month period and collect your BRP within 10 days from a designated Post office. This BRP will mention your actual visa duration. If your spouse cannot travel within the one month duration, she will have to apply for the visa once again.

Thanks a lot for your response !!
Can you please provide me some reference or link where I can find more information regarding this changed law.

Thanks moonlight for you response.
I have one more query regarding dependent travel.
My ICT Long Term Visa is in Process and I will be traveling soon. But my wife will travel after 3 month on dependent Visa.
My current company is asking for below documents in addition to usual documents:

1) Leave/ Resignation/ NOC Letter from her company as she is working.
2) UK House Rental Agreement, where we will be staying as I will be in UK during her travel.

Can you please confirm weather these documents are required by UKBA to process dependent visa or not.
Thanks in Advance.

None of this is required.

Thanks Sushd for your response.

That's for your company to answer.
As them why do they need all this when immigration rules to do state that anything of this sort is needed for a PBS dependant application.
