Physically present in UK 5 years of receiving application

Post by federyko1979 » Fri Jun 26, 2015 9:52 am

In Booklet (June 2015) on page 5 you read:
"You must have been physically present in UK on the day 5 years before application is received by Home Office"

What do you think the word "received" means by Home Office? Is it the date they got it from Post Office or is it the day of acknowledgement (date on the letter you receive from them)?

we dont think we know

it's the date they receive it in the post according to the postal tracking receipt (and only an insane person sends a citizenship application untracked)

5 years ago is the NEXT date 5 years ago , for whatever reason

eg if they get your application today 26th of June, you have to have been here on the 27th of June 2010

if it were any other way an applicant with frequent travel history would have had no way of controlling the relevant date )) our govt is not THAT crazy yet )

Chapter 6 of caseworker's guidance defines date of application in section 6.3.3:
