Section 6 Form AN Query regarding BRP submission

Post by aurnoc » Mon Jun 29, 2015 6:13 pm

Hi guys,

My hubby has an ILR BRP issued to him.

The Form AN section 6.7 states:
BRP enclosed? Yes or No
If not, then please state the location of BRP

Please let me know which option to opt for? From our understanding, NCS only keeps photocopies and returns original documents. In which case there's no option stating that the photocopy has been submitted and original has been. returned.

Thanks.

I think you state Yes even when applying via NCS.
NCS either forwards the BRP or forwards a certified photocopy to HO.
Either way you effectively submitted the card in your application.

NCS will take a copy, certify it and give the original BRP back to you. Tick the box BRP enclosed.
Only LIUK certificate original copy will be sent to UKVI , rest all docs are copied by NCS.

Hi,

I applied through NCS today, and selected yes for this question initially.

The representative over there, cancelled my "yes" entry and selected "No" and asked me to write "Applied through NCS" in the box below.

I am sure that it is not logical, anyone had similar expeience ?

Thanks,
Sri.

Because NCS would have sent a copy of your BRP which means if you need to travel you can while you wait for your application to be processed. You will need to return the BRP to HO within 5 days of your ceremony if your application is approved.

Hi,

I agree with that, but the AN Form (Jan 2016), if we select Yes then only we can goto 6.11 where we can confirm that we will post BRP within 5 days.

In my case the NCS lady, selected No for 6.7 and even then she asked me to goto 6.11 and select No and confirm that I will return BRP in 5 days.

Cheers,
Sri.

6.7 should be Yes.

6.11 Should be 'NO' so you keep the BRP till after you attend your ceremony

Thanks, so does that mean the NCS lady screwed it up :(

Guidence says we should not strick off any data and she stricked it off and also made wrong selections.

It does appear that the NCS may have got that one wrong (may have thought that because only a certified copy of the BRP was being sent, the answer for 6.7 would be NO). What you had initially selected/written would have been correct. That said I'm sure the HO will enquire if they need further clarification. I doubt they will, as they'll see that a certified copy of your BRP is included with the application. As the AN form isn't scanned in (& read with OCR) like the passport form, it's unlikely that a small change like that would cause a problem.

It won't be an issue as HO will clearly be aware you applied through NCS and that you have retained BRP for now.

The brought up the very same questions as they sound contradictory.
The NCS in charge asked me to ignore that field and didn't fill any.

I've got my application acknowledged last week! :x

Had a similar experience at Wandsworth last week for my combined application. The registrar asked if I would like to include my BRP original with the application. When I said No, he changed 6.7 to No and wrote in the box 'applied via NCS' while leaving 6.11 as NO. He explained that after the latest rule from HO on BRP return within 5 days, they have advised 6.7 to be Yes only if the original BRP card is being returned along with the AN form.

Maybe they will correct the wording/branching in a later version.

That explains it & makes sense. Thanks for sharing, this will most likely help everyone applying with the new version of the AN form.

I had the experience with this query at NCS Leeds today.

I was told to say "NO" and write In my possession as explanation.

and 6.11 as "NO" and wrote....in my possession for for Travel and Work reasons.

Hope this will help others...as I was struggling with this one....
