ILR (Apply to Extend - FLR form)

Hi,

I am currently under Tier 2 General visa which expires in Jan 2017. However, my company is currently going through a restructure where there could be possible redundancy in 2 months time. We are all under consultation period.

I will be legally in the UK for 10 years on the 13th Feb 2016. I understand that I would not be able to apply for the ILR until 28 days before the 10 years. However, I read on the UK Visa and Immigrations site that there is an option for Apply to Extend for another 2 years. However I could not find the date of application and would like to ask if I can apply for this now?
