Stay in Europe on UK ILR children British?

Hi ALL,

Just curious to know, Can we go to Europe with out Schengen visa with our British children?

Like Non-EU dependends of Europeans can visit UK with their families with EC card something like that.

In theory, you can, under Directive 2004/38/EC, as family members of EEA nationals. You will need proof of their relationship to you (birth certificates).

In practice, most airlines may not be conversant with the rules and hence may not allow you to board. If you board, expect major delays at the immigration counter of the country you land in as all the details will need to be checked.

Much better to apply for and get a Schengen visa. I believe that as family members of EEA citizens, you should be entitled to a free, expedited issue of Schengen visas(see half way down the page).
