Tier2 General Sponsorship change from outside UK

Hi

I have a UK Tier2 general visa. I have a situation where my current employer is asking to serve notice period in India and the new employer is prepared to provide sponsorship. Can i still have my change in sponsorship process smoothly done by staying in India? Is it mandatory for me stay in UK? Will there be any issue in the UK entry when I come back from India? Please clarify.
