Application form for child born in UK for Tier 2 General

Post by SonalP » Fri Aug 07, 2015 1:03 pm

Hi Experts,

I have seen similar topics already discussed in this forum. So I am sorry if this is a repetition.
Basically I am here on a Tier 2 General visa which is valid until 2019.
My child was born here this year and we have already acquired both Indian Passport & UK birth certificate.

We plan to travel to India this December and comeback in January.
Please can someone point me to the application form that can be used to apply for my child's permission to stay in the UK as per
Children born while you’re in the UK
If you have children while you’re in the UK, you can apply for permission for them to stay.
You must do this if you want to travel in and out of the UK with your child.

When you apply you must send a full UK birth certificate showing the names of both of your child’s parents.
as stated on https://www.gov.uk/tier-2-general/family-members

The form is not easily available.Any prompt guidance will be much appreciated.
We are applying from within UK - prefer to get this visa sorted before we travel out of the country.

Thanks.
Sonal

Ok Guys - I was just filling up this application and it is quite simple.

The only problem I now have is with the question for my baby.
Do you have a biometric residence permit(BRP)?
I have BRP myself - however my baby was born in June this year she does not have a BRP.
The response options to this question are:
1. Yes, I have a biometric residence permit
2. No, I had a biometric residence permit for my most recent leave, but I do not have it now
3. No, I did not have a biometric residence permit for my most recent leave
Are we required to apply for my baby's BRP separately prior to applying for a VISA?

Thanks in Advance.

The baby is the applicant (like you were when you filled up the form for yourself).
Imagine the baby is filling up the form for herself.
Answer questions accordingly.

Thanks
The question is more about application for BRP for my baby before applying for her Visa... is that required? As none of the answers quoted above seem relevant for my baby.

There is no "application for BRP", so there is no "applying for BRP before applying for visa". The BRP "is the" visa. BRP enrolment is part of application processing.
I assumed that you would be aware of all this since you stated that you have a BRP yourself. Perhaps I assumed wrong, so apologies.

Your baby never had a BRP issued, and didn't have to apply for leave earlier because he is born in the UK and making his "very first" application for a "visa" to be issued as a "BRP".
So, the most accurate option to choose for your baby is:
3. No, I did not have a biometric residence permit for my most recent leave

Thanks.. that makes sense.
Basically I had a visa transferred from one
company to another and wasn't too involved in the process other than providing info and getting biometrics done...

Appreciate your explanation. Thanks!
