I forgot to update my address with the police now what?

Hi,

I changed address back in May but I forgot to update my address with the police. I was honest and told them the truth but they took my details and said I may be charged £5000 or lose my visa.
This was the first time I forgot to update me details. Will the home office take action against me?

The police officer I talked to was very aggressive and kept threatening me that she would contact the home office even though I tried to explain that I had been completely take up by the university work and my previous abusive landlord.

My husband is also in the uk as my dependent (he also needs to update his details ) but after hearing my experience with the police he's also shaken up and afraid to the tell the truth to the police.

What if he told them when he moved in and they decided to fine us £10000?
we really don't want any trouble.

Hopefully, he may meet a kind officer. The one that you met probably had insufficient sleep or had other problems.
