Tier 2 Change Jobs Same Employer Same SOC RLMT Required ?

I am looking to change jobs with my current employer , the old and new jobs are in the same SOC and salary so I am a aware of the fact that the employer will need to notify UKVI of my new job title. But is an RLMT required ?

if the job is with the same employer then no change/notification is needed.
if the job is with a different employer, rlmt is needed and new visa application has to be filed.

Thanks a lot for a prompt response, I thought this was the case. The job is with the same employer and same SOC code but there are insisting that a RLMT is required. Is there any sponsor guidance document from the UKVI that highlights this so I can prove it to them.

What do you mean by same employer and same soc but different job ?

For example, you work for microsoft you were a developer, you are still a developer in same company, why need to reapply ?

I currently work in a role that's classified under soc code 3131 . I am looking to apply for a new role of Data Manager . My employer has checked with the ONS and they have classified this job under the same SOC Code. So I am afraid it isn't as simple as your example
