National Insurance Number on CoS

Post by Physicist » Fri Oct 30, 2015 2:53 am

I was recently issued with a CoS and it has my national insurance number it. I think adding a national insurance number is not mandatory to assign

But since the CoS has a national insurance number, I'm just worried that it is registered to my previous address and wanted to ask if this wouldn't be a problem when a caseworker sees my application?

I got that NI number a year or so ago as a Tier 4 student because I wanted to find employment at the time but never actually got into employment.

Any assistance would be much appreciated.

NI number has nothing to do with an "address" but is registered to an "individual".

one person cant/shouldnt have more that 1 NI number.
However, since u have moved houses, you should call hmrc and update your address. NI number is issued by hmrc as well. this will help you get any tax refunds , if any, as well.

NI number is issued by DWP, not HMRC!!
HMRC issues a unique tax reference (UTR) to an individual.
