Issue due to sealed birth records

Good afternoon,

I'm in the process of gathering what information I can to obtain citizenship.

I'm American born of Irish Born birth parents. Because of this the embassy tells me I just need to apply for passport - with my birth certificate indicating where my birth parents were born.

Here's the kicker. After birth I was adopted by an American couple and my NJ birth records are sealed, so my birth certificate lists my adoptive birth parents not my birth parents.

Anyone know of alternative methods of providing lineage?
