Is there an alternative to submitting bank statements?

Post by intahnetmonster » Wed Nov 11, 2015 10:15 pm

I am applying for my wife's visa and unfortunately, due to various reasons, my bank account isn't in the greatest health.

My income is fine, I get a good stable income, but it will take a while for me to clear my debts.

Looking at Appendix FM-SE, it seems I need to supply evidence of income. I have already gathered all my payslips, but in regards to the bank statements.... I am afraid that they will reject the visa based on my bank account state.

Is there anything I can submit instead of my bank statements?

No, unfortunately not, you will need to submit bank statements. HO don't care about your debts, they are interested in your income/salary payments.

So in theory, as long as I have a good income, but my account is in an unhappy state (overdrawn), they should be fine with it?

Also, in terms of providing the bank statements, can I send my wife scans of them? Or do I have to post her the originals?

Bear in mind too the effect of the £1500 or so cost of the visa might have on your overdraft, if things are tight...

That part is sorted already.
I had money set aside for the visa application, but due to wedding costs etc I went overdraft in my main account, and it'll take a while to restore it to a positive value.

They should be originals and not older than 28 days on the date of application.

Don't worry mate, I was in the same situation as you. As CR001 said they are only interested in your income. They want to clarify that you do get the amount of money that you claim in the application. After that they don;t care how much you spend.
