For a spouse visa you select 'settlement' and then 'wife' on VAF4A. Don't forget you have to pay the immigration health surcharge before you apply as you need the IHS Reference number. The cost of this is £600 in addition to the visa application fee.

Hi,
I have completed my online application form but during the time of payment, it's asking me to pay £1600 as IHS health charge but not £600. How many years is it calculated? If it's a wrong application type, can I get refund and can I apply once again in the same week? Urgent reply please anyone...

Thanks in advance.

Hello,
1 more question...my IHS is showing £1600.
1) Is it included with the application fee or not?

2) For how many years is it calculated for settlement spouse visa?

It looks like you've included your husband in the NHS surcharge application. You should be applying alone. I've calculated the surcharge as £600.
That's in addition to the visa fee. The initial spouse settlement visa will be issued for 33 months.

Thank you so much once again, Casa.

Visa category I have selected is Settlement-Settlement-Wife.Filled the online application.

1) Where do I need to check if I have included my husband's IHS?

2)In case, if I have proceeded to pay the fee, can I get refund after my visa is approved?

There is no option to select "Applying alone" during payment. Just because of this small confusion, I could not proceed further and it's getting delayed from 1 month.
Could you please help me with this?

Many thanks.

Can you post what you have selected through each stage of the IHS process?

Hi.. Thank you for your help so far.

1) I have completed the personal, family and passport related details
2)sign declaration done
3)BRP collection point selected
4)selected an appointment date and time
5) now it's time to pay for IHS

It's asking me to continue to pay to ihs. When I click continue, it's showing that I need to pay £1600. There is no other option available to change but to pay the IHS.

When my husband rang to the number on visa4uk website, they're not able to answer it correctly.

Your help is very much appreciated.

For the Immigration Health Surcharge you needed to select

"Appying alone"

Country "India"

Visa route is "settlement"

Visa type is "wife"

That brings up an IHS charge of £600.

For the IHS, you are the applicant and you don't mention your husband as the IHS is just for you.

Thank you for the reply.

I have calculated the IHS using the online calculator using the options you have told me and got 600.
But, in the online application we do not have the options to select. It is asking to pay 1600 pounds. No options to change. What can be done?

Yes..true... :-/
One more quick question...
Our tenancy agreement is only for 6 months and not for 1 year. However, we can renew it. My husband mentioned this in the cover letter.

1) Is it mandatory to have tenancy agreement for 1 year?

2) We have very few email,Skype, watsapp screenshots. Because of time difference, we couldn't talk so frequently and our conversation lasts 10 mins on an average. Are they accepted or is there something that I need to submit apart this?

No. It's common for short-hold tenancies to be for an initial 6 month period.

Post by dolly_14 » Sat Nov 07, 2015 5:38 pm

Hi all,

I would like to know the format of a covering letter I need to write. I've booked an appointment in the next week.

1)What all I need to include in that?
2)would the header would be "Covering letter"??
3)Please help me with a sample covering letter (from applicant).

Your help is greatly appreciated.

It's a settlement - spouse visa.
