Long resident? What are your intentions?

Post by fielddrive » Tue Dec 01, 2015 12:43 am

Reference section 2.1, for those of you, like myself, who have been here for over 11 years, what date do you put in it?

AN guide, page 8, says this is the date you entered the UK with a view to stay here permanently. If I put the date from 2004, then clearly my intent to stay temporarily as a student is compromised?

What do you think? Am I thinking too much? Should I just pick a date from 5 years ago and be done with it?

When we applied using NCS, the lady rang up HO and asked this question.

They said the first day you touch UK soil is the date you put in.
I found that it contradicts the guidance but we followed what HI said

If you applied through 10 years long residence then i would say put in the date when you entered the first time i-e on student visa because i did the same when i applied for my naturalisation 3 years ago.

Thanks for your responses.... I'll put the date I first entered the UK.

It was just a bit puzzling because the guidance contradicts this by asking you to state your intention of becoming a permanent resident, when in fact I did not have the slightest idea or intent to be here 10 years later...
