Travelling with new passport and BRP issued on old passport

Hi,

I am currently in UK on Tier 2 visa and I am flying to India to get married and want to get my spouse name on my passport which expires in 9 months anyway. Do I need to inform UK Visa and Immigration services about this? I will be applying for ILR in 2 months anyway, cant I just inform them at the time of application? Would UK Immigration control at the airport let me enter the country if my BRP is registered to my old passport (which I will also be carrying)?
