10-Days gap B/W Old & New Visa:MAy I come back to UK?

Hi All,

One of my friend who has been in the Reading University needed to reapply for his Visa for one of his Paper left incomplete for his degree. His old Visa is expiring on 21st JAn-2016. He did go to Jordan to apply for his Visa and got the New Visa starting from 01-February 2016.
THE QUESTION IS THAT NOW CAN HE COME BACK AND IF YES THEN WHAT WOULD BE HIS STATUS DURING THE 10 DAYS (22-JAN 2016 TO 31 JAN 2016) OR HE CANNOT COME BACK BEFORE 01 FEBRUARY 2016. PLEASE ADVISE AS HE IS LIVING THERE WITH SOMEONE VERY TEMPORARILY AND WANTS TO COME BACK ASAP.
I would really request to Seniors please for this matter.

Because your 'friend' applied for a new visa from outside the UK, his visa that expires in January 2016 would have been cancelled when the new visa was issued.

So as Wanderer has indicated, he can only enter the UK on 1st February.
