ILR for Tier 2 General category Visa person

Post by db666 » Sat Jan 02, 2016 3:41 pm

Hi folks,

Thanks for all the help I have received over time in answering my visa related queries.

I have a new query this time: I landed in UK on the 31st of March 2014. As per the default rules, I would become eligible for ILR at around 31st March 2019 (5 yrs for Tier 2 general).

*But*, I have heard that there is a change of rule already in place related to ILR wherein anyone who has not applied for ILR before 2019 won't be granted the ILR. This is a bit concerning for my planning so wanted to clarify a few things.

Is this true? If yes, could someone please post the link to this official statement? Also, if that's the case, is there any other way I can get an ILR (and subsequently a passport)?

Thanks for your time.

The rule/change you are referring to is for Tier 1 General visa holders who cannot apply for ILR after April 2018.

Wow, that's a pretty big misunderstanding on my part. So basically, to confirm, if I'm still around with a Tier 2 General Visa at Mar 2019, I would be able to file an ILR?

Thanks.

Yes, if you meet all the standard requirements including the salary change coming into effect in April 2016.

It is a salary requirement for ILR applications. See Q18 (click)
