Renewal of Child passport born in India

Hi,

I was an Indian citizen and have got naturalised as UK Citizen. Now my child is still an Indian citizen and same for my wife.
We have to renew her Indian passport within UK and seems VFS is asking for following documents:

If either of the parents holds a foreign nationality, then a letter from the concerned Embassy or Mission of that country or from the concerned UK authority (in case of British national) stating that the child has not acquired nationality of his / her parent would be required.

Does anybody has any idea if this is mandatory and what is the process of getting such document from UK Home Office?
