benefits effect on naturalization?

Post by tcpip_helper » Wed Feb 24, 2016 12:25 am

Hi,

I am due to apply for naturalization next month, i lost my job in sep 2015 and eventually applied for benefits in dec 2015, these days i am receiving housing benefit, council tax reduction, job seeker allowance, child tax credit, will it affect my naturalization application? i am doing a job but its only 8 hours per week.

I piled up 5 figure debts during my first few years in uk but for the last 3-4 years i am on arrangement with them and making small payments to all my creditors each month, i am defaulted on my credit file but not bankrupt, would i be ok?

is it a good idea to apply for naturalization while out of work and receiving benefits?

thanks for your help.

No issue regarding claiming benefits.

As long as you are paying your creditors and sticking to the payment plan, you should be fine (no CCJs)
