Wife on dependent visa? What is procedure to start working?

Post by Jayjolly » Wed Feb 24, 2016 10:59 am

My wife is on a tier 2 dependent visa and she has got an offer from a company to work for them.

What is the requirements for her to start working? Does she need a work permit or apply for NI? I assume she would need to pay taxes as well.

Any help will be very much appreciated.

Thanks.

Does she need a work permit
No, she already has a visa that allows her to work,
or apply for NI?
Yes. I am surprised she has not already done this when she arrived.
I assume she would need to pay taxes as well.
Yes, like everyone else. Why would you think she might not?

She can work if she has valid visa.
She don't need work permit
She will be restricted work - no Dr/dentist training .
She need NI no

Thanks for that. Can the employer apply for her NI number or does she need this before starting work?

Please follow the instruction from the below link to apply for NI. It's pretty simple. Employer will not apply on her behalf.

Surely you would know the process of getting an NI number as you would have had to do exactly the same before you could start working. She needs to do it herself, it is not an employer's responsibility.
