Schengen Visa Application issue

Post by mental4vray » Thu Mar 03, 2016 10:12 pm

Hi,

We are planning to visit Paris on 31st of March for 4 days and we have already done all our hotel and train bookings. These are all non refundable bookings.

Now the issue is, when we filled up the form today on the tlscontact website to apply for a schengen visa at the french embassy the latest appointment date I am getting is on 29th March 2016. Which gives only 1 more working day before we have to travel. Is there anything I can do to get an early appointment in this case.

Your help will be appreciated.

Thanks

(a) You are entitled to lodge your application directly at the embassy or consulate under article 17(5) of the Schengen Visa Code:

http://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/ ... 32009R0810

"5. The Member State(s) concerned shall maintain the possibility for all applicants to lodge their applications directly at its/their consulates."

(b) Special provisions may be provided or explained on the Embassy or Consulate's website if the applicant is the family member of an EU Citizen.

From the Schengen Visa Handbook (please read page 86)

http://ec.europa.eu/dgs/home-affairs/po ... 620_en.pdf

"3.4. Processing time
The visas must be issued as soon as possible and on the basis of an accelerated procedure and the procedures put in place by Member States (with or without outsourcing) must allow to distinguish between the rights of a third country national who is a family member of an EU citizen and other third country nationals. The former must be treated more favourably than the latter."

(c) From these two points above, you may be able to get in touch with the embassy/consulate and see if you can get the whole process sped up.

Visa agencies registered at the French Consulate usually have appointments for earlier dates, you can apply through them.
