British Nationality Application - Date received by Home Off

Post by ishameeque » Thu Nov 15, 2007 12:08 pm

Hi
To apply for the nationality, the guide states that the applicant should be physically present in the UK exactly on the date five years prior to the date application is received by home office. My question is, if the application is submitted via nationality checking service, would this count as the date the application is received by home office?. Thanks for any inputs.

No, as far as I know it's the date actually received in Liverpool. Also afaik you need to be in the U.K. itself on that day (as well as 5 yrs previous).

And NCS ask that you remain in the UK for 5 days after applying, to allow for delays.

Although in reality they have no way of knowing whether or not you are in the country at the exact moment they receive your application.
In a few years time we'll look back on immigration control like we look back on American prohibition in the thirties - futile and counter-productive.
