Post by Samsaro » Thu Apr 07, 2016 1:33 pm

Dear members,

First of all I would like to thank almighty, my family & friends for being with me through out the tough journey for the last 4 months + 5 years. And a special thanks to my solicitors, accountant & the forum for giving me up to date information.

I booked my PSC appointment on 1st March for 07th April.
Fees paid : £1900, application form used: V04/16
Category: Tier-1 Gen
Appointment time: 08.20 am
PEO centre : Croydon
Entered the building @ 7.50 am
Bio metrics done by 8.10, case worker picked up my case by 9.10 and finally the GOLDEN words appeared on the screen (Ready for collection appeared @ 10.30 am)

No questionnaire has been asked to fill.

Documents submitted:

Set O – new form
12 months payslip
2 photos
Life in UK pass certificate
Degree certificate
IELTS Life Skills B pass certificate
Employment history for last 5 years
SA302 for last 5 years (obtained from my Accountant)
Tax overview from my HMRC online login (to prove that tax paid are up-to-date)

Please PM me if you need any other details, happy to help!

Regards,
Sam

No it doesn't. From HMRC, you need to fill in an SA302 if;
You were self-employed

Your savings or investment income was £10,000 or more before tax

You made profits from selling things like shares, a second home or other chargeable assets and need to pay Capital Gains Tax

You were a company director - unless it was for a non-profit organisation (eg a charity) and you didn’t get any pay or benefits, like a company car

Your income (or your partner’s) was over £50,000 and one of you claimed Child Benefit

You had income from abroad that you needed to pay tax on

You lived abroad and had a UK income

You got dividends from shares and you’re a higher or additional rate taxpayer

Your income was over £100,000

You were a trustee of a trust or registered pension scheme

You had a P800 from HMRC saying you didn’t pay enough tax last year - and you didn’t pay what you owe through your tax code or with a voluntary payment

Hi sam,

Did you ask to fill any questionnaire form in Croydon relates to self employment. And did you face any questions from Case worker. Please let me know the details.

Thanks

A lot can be learned from an experienced member and businessman such as Mr W.

An example of an entrepreneur who is capable of conducting his business affairs and handling his tax matters in the UK legally, honestly, accurately and above board, in a timely manner.

That is, as I understand it, without the help of some 'top-notch advisors' who 'specialise' in such areas and offer special 'bro-rates' to boot.

Now he may not agree with the tax regime (I don't know) and he may not enjoy paying the hard-earned tax over to the HMRC but his experience can be regarded as exemplary.

As I say, a lot can be learned from such examples and its evidently not rocket science - nor does it all have to be done with 'smoke and mirrors'.

Thanks noajthan

I pay an accountant to do my books, tax etc, one who specialises in my area, he does the lot, costs me about £1500 a year, but even then he makes it clear it's all down to me as I have to legally sign everything off as true and correct, so you can't just blithely sign, you have to have some due diligence, ask him questions, query this, query that. Then when happy, sign.

What's hard about that, it's not rocket science. I've had people contact me say they'll do it cheaper, no thanks, I don't want to stick my massive head above the parapet and let HMRC pick me off with their AK-47's....

I was kidding BTW about the Bentleys - I don't have any, only Aston Martins....

No questionnaire is issued at Croydon. No questions asked.
I had some discrepancy on the tax returns filed for 2012-13, I amended it on 07 Jan 2016 and got a HMRC letter for the amendment on 15th Feb. Also attached tax calculations for the last 5 years and the Tax overview which can be obtained if you have an online login for your SA.
