Spouse Naturalisation - Passport Amendments

Post by wpongal » Tue Apr 12, 2016 8:18 pm

Dear Friends,

In our time constrained situation, my wife is applying for her naturalisation (as spouse married to british citizen and residing in uk for 3 years)

>> it is possible that she applies for spouse name to be added to her indian passport AFTER the NCS appointment and maybe AFTER submitting her BIOMETRIC at Postoffice
( this is entirely due to our circumstances)

Would this cause any issues?

Thanks

"Adding spouse's name in (an Indian) passport" has "nothing" to do with a (UK) naturalisation application.

If I may ask:

Why do you want your name added in your wife's passport? It is neither a requirement, as mentioned to you before, nor does it offer any "useful" purpose or "advantage".

There are many Indian women who do not adopt spouse's name after marriage, give birth to children, and the children have no problem in being issued Indian passport / British passport / RoA / OCI / visas etc. etc.
Having spouse's name added in the passport doesn't "expedite" a child's application turn-around time.

IMHO ....
Life isn't fair, but you can be!

Thanks for the quick reply

I am under the following plan and/or path ...
- myself, hold a british passport with NO OCI yet
- my wife, holds an indian passport with ILR
- my wife, would apply for her naturalisation(+biometrics) before traveling to BENGALURU, India
- our baby, would be born in BENGALURU, India

so, baby's passport application needs
- parents passport copy with the INDIAN ADDRESS of the parent?
- my wife's indian passport contains her old address from MUMBAI
- my british passport has no reference to the indian address

there comes the complication which can be fixed (maybe)
- by my wife applying for a "change of address" pointing towards BENGALURU address where BABY passport would also be applicable.

ooof!

many thanks
