HM passport office in Belfast need my foreign passport

Hi everyone

I had my passport interview on the 12th for the 1st British passport when i track it online showing me that they have posted me a letter and i need to respond to this letter directly when I receive it however i phoned them today regarding to the letter the lady told me that I need to send my foreign passport

my Q is why they need my foreign passport ?
I have two passports one expired on 2013 i used it to come here do I need to send both of them or the valid one only ??
As i am travelling on 8th of May how long does it take to get British passport ?

All "uncancelled" passports. In your case, your currently valid passport.

I used check and send by post office the guy did not tell me ..

so you mean send the valid only

Valid and expired (if not cancelled) passports - both need to be sent.

Expired passport is "deemed cancelled" if a new one has been issued to replace it.
Hence, in OP's case, there is no need to send the expired passport.

You have to send your current valid passport. They will require it to verify your identity. If there are any differences in the full name your passport application will be rejected.

Name on your current valid foreign passport and name on naturalization certificate MUST be same.
