I arrived 9 October, also not wasting time applied for jobs - sofar applied for no less than 100 jobs, no interviews so far. Recruitment agencies are very biased and dont try to peef them off cause they can cause considerable harm by spreading the word out. A point of advice, keep follow up with the agencies and be nice to them - they are your ticket to a nice job.

Thniga re pricey here so keep spending to a minimum - only essentials I would say.

Needless to say, I am still looking....

- Howz the IT market in UK? Jobs are there in good nos?

Rajan, I will try to answer some of you questions, as i am also from erp area:

non-uk experience doesn't count, especially in erp systems as that is an area of high responsibility (you should be familiar with the price for a middle-sized sap implementation) and employers prefer not to take any risks and rely only on people with proved local experience

salaries ..go to major job websites, many of those have a salary checker

i would say the it job market is quite good, but it is much easier to find a job for a technican, a programmer or an administrator than for people who deal with clients and business ..

and i agree with JayGee that the recruitment process is very very slothful

AlexStiva & Other Friends

Thanks for your reply!

As you said non UK exp doesn't count.

- In that case how one should proceed

And...

- I have worked in MNCs (having offices/ Operations in UK also). "ll that effect my chances of employemnt in UK?

- As you are also from ERP area, how much (rough idea) salaries are being rcvd by SAP BASIS administrators or PeopleSoft DBAs

- Is the London only area where IT jobs are?

Thanks !

Hi AlexStiva,

I would appreciate if you could share some more insights about the job market in UK for ERPs. I'm a Peoplesoft Tech Consultant with about 5 years experience and I recently got my HSMP Approval.

I have been actively going thru the jobsites like Jobserve, cwitjobs, etc., I do see some openings daily. But, how many of them would be willing to consider a non-UK experienced guy for these positions?

I'm in a pretty good job in a good position in my country with a big MNC. I'm seriouly thinking of whether it is worth the risk of quitting this job and moving to UK and start afresh.

Overall, how do u feel is the market for ERP, especially Peoplesoft and what are the chances of a person like me (non-UK experience) getting a job.

Thanking you in advance for your help.

Regards,
Ashok
