Time spent on visitor visa for LR

Hi,

One of my friends has been in the UK since June 2007 on Tier 4 and Tier 1 visas and has been outside the UK very few times and with no refusals. He moved to the UK in June 2007 on Tier 4 visa however in February 2007 he came to the UK as a visitor for 10 days on a 6 months visitor visa (valid from February to July) . When does his long residency starts? Does it start in February 2007 or June 2007?
